Lyme Disease

This bacterial disease is transmitted to dogs from the bite of an infected tick. Infected dogs will develop painful muscles and joints. The disease can be treated with antibiotics once it is diagnosed by your veterinarian. Dogs that enjoy walking in fields and woods where there are ticks may be at risk of becoming infected with Lyme disease.
Preventing you dog from getting Lyme is important and can be done by:

  • Reducing the number of ticks that bite your dog.
  • Vaccinating your dog against Lyme disease.

Your veterinarian will be able to help you prevent Lyme disease in your dog.
